Pump tracks, built with asphalt, combine rolling terrain and berms to teach the basic skills of balance, carrying momentum and the creation of speed by using your arms and legs to pump your bike, scooter, or skateboard around the track.
A pump track provides a space for different types of activity, allowing users to ride or roll using the momentum of their body and the flow of the track to get around.
The Oakleigh Street Pump Track would significantly broaden the local options for developing and enjoying these types of skills - it will be more accessible than the unsealed skills track at Stratton Street, which is less central and currently only serves bikes, and will provide a different level of challenge (and fun) than the much smaller and simpler tracks currently provided by the schools.

We would work with experienced pump track builders to design and build the track. This would ensure a well designed track that caters for all users and skill levels, built to a high standard to maximise the longevity of the track and minimise maintenance requirements.
Our goal is to build something that catered for the community needs whilst fitting within a realistic budget.
Our goal would be to fully fund the construction of the pump track through grants, local business sponsorship, and through fundraising efforts within the community.
We will work with GW and HCC to develop a plan that allows use of the site without the need to purchase the land.
